Visitor’s quotes

I stayed 3 times at casa carpedm. The hostel ist perfectly located in safe and beautiful San Blas, the rooms are spacious and super clean. The breakfast is extraordinary, offering scrambled eggs, good bread, fresh fruits, fresh juice etc. AND an awesome view! Moreover, the staff is just lovely, caring and honestly interested in your wellbeing. Thank you for everything! They are super helpful and react quickly to any requests. The Casa Carpedm team really enriched my stay in Ecuador. The familiar atmosphere made me feel like coming home every time. Highly recommended especially for female solo travelers!

Great place to stay, the beds are comfy, the rooms are nice, the breakfast sets you for the day. And the staff are really nice and very helpful Location wise there are a few nice spots to drink and eat locally, and other hostels to go and drink at too There is a bus stop just at the bottom of the hill too, if you want to catch a bus to the main station to go to Mindo or Otavalo for example

We’ve stayed here for several separate nights over the past few weeks and wouldn’t consider going anywhere else. The location on the edge of the historical centre is perfect for visiting Quito. It is steps away from a useful bus stop. The rooms are huge and spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds and a good shower. The good breakfast is served in a pleasant communal area with spectacular views over the city. It’s been great to have a well-equipped kitchen to cook in. The staff is all happy, smiley, and very helpful. Highly recommended

The best hostel we’ve stayed in and a must stay in Quito!! More like a hotel, the breakfast is great and the view that goes along with it is beautiful! The staff couldn’t be more helpful and the hostel is spotless. We loved it here so much we extended from one night to four.

January 2019

Large, comfortable beds (twin bed), really spacious, light-filled kitchen/common area on the top floor with a great view over the historic city center, clean, good kitchen equipment and the best breakfast we have had in a hostel including vegan options such as fresh fruit salad, fresh fruit juice, granola, bread and jam, as well as coffee and tea. Non-vegan options (scrambled eggs, butter, yogurt and milk) are also available. Staff is very accommodating and super helpful. They let us check in early and also allow to store your luggage. We only spent 1 night there but consider coming back.

Guided tours

The adventure continues when you stay at Casa CarpeDM.   We offer you a great way to learn about Historical Quito through our own Free Walking Tour.  Explore the historical centre Monday to Friday from 10.10am – starting from our Carpedm Adventures offices.  We can also help you with daytrips to Cotopaxi, Quilotoa, Mindo, Otavalo and complete Quito City Tours.  If you were considering the possibility of exploring the Amazon Rainforest or the Enchanted Islands of Galapagos we can also provide assistance and recommendations.

Cotopaxi National Park – 1 day

Cotopaxi National Park (Spanish: Parque Nacional Cotopaxi) is a protected area in Ecuador situated in the Cotopaxi Province, Napo Province and Pichincha Province, roughly 50 km south of Quito. Trek one of the highest active volcanoes in the world with 5897 m!

Prepare to hike, bike and smile.  Trekking for all ages but biking must be experienced or confident with downhill biking.

Quilotoa Laguna – 1 day

Quilotoa is a water-filled caldera and the most western volcano in the Ecuadorian Andes. The 3 kilometres (2 mi)-wide caldera was formed by the collapse of this dacite volcano following a catastrophic VEI-6 eruption about 800 years ago.  Spread an airborne deposit of volcanic ash throughout the northern Andes. This last eruption followed a dormancy period of 14,000 years and is known as the 1280 Plinian eruption.

Prepare yourself for a taste of cultural and hiking.

Otavalo Market – 1 day

The indigenous town of Otavalo is famous across South America for its handicraft market and colourful inhabitants, but the area also offers far more.

Otavalo, a small town 2 hours north of Quito, has the biggest Indian handicraft market in South America. But it is not only famous for its typical handicraft, wood, weaving and souvenir markets; but as well as for its landscape. Beautiful lakes, Indian villages, high peaks and natural reserves surround the Otavalo area.
